Birmingham
Alabama’s largest city is located just north of the center of the
state. The production of steel in the city’s steel plants is one of the
city’s most important industries. Birmingham is approximately 250 miles
southeast of Memphis, Tennessee on US route 78.
Montgomery
The capitol city of Alabama, and the state’s second largest city, is
Montgomery. It is located about 200 miles northwest of Jacksonville,
Florida, and just over 150 miles southwest of Atlanta. Montgomery is
home to Maxwell Air Force Base and the Air University and War College.
Mobile
Mobile, Alabama is located in the southwest corner of the state, near
the Gulf of Mexico. Exporting and importing of goods is done at the
port in Mobile. New Orleans, Louisiana is less than 150 miles west of
Mobile.
Huntsville
Located in northern Alabama, not far from the Tennessee border,
Huntsville is home to the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. Huntsville
is about 100 miles south of Nashville. I-565 connects Huntsville and
Decatur.
